Commitment to Community

DJS Events is dedicated to helping nonprofits and social enterprises improve the lives of people and communities.
Dawn’s passion for philanthropy and community motivated her in 2002 to form the Long Island Elite (LIE). LIE is a unique business networking group for executives. LIE encourages its members to further their businesses and careers through networking and mentorship while “giving back” to the community. Each year, the organization raises money for local Long Island charities with its “Masquerade Ball” at the majestic Oheka Castle. This signature event showcases the talents and versatility of DJS Events. The firm donates part of its time and resources to produce this unparalleled event that attracts more than 350 guests annually and has donated over $850,000 to the Long Island community.
In 2010, Dawn created the “Believe Symposium” on behalf of the Long Island Elite.
This educational and inspirational conference encouraged and engaged high school students to believe in their futures, the community and in themselves. DJS Events has also worked or donated its time to benefit other foundations including: Adults & Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD), Education and Assistance Corporation (EAC), Best Buddies (LI Chapter), The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LI Chapter) and North Shore Animal League.
In early 2021 Dawn was invited to serve on the Advisory Board of Smile Farms an organization founded by Jim McCann with a mission to provide developmentally disabled adults with meaningful work opportunities at farms, urban gardens, greenhouses and farm stands where they can grow and sell flowers, plants and produce in their local communities. She is very excited to contribute to the cause and impact those they serve.
